A ban that went into effect March 9 banning Penn National-stabled horses from entering Maryland Jockey Club facilities has been lifted.
The ban was ordered when a horse stabled at Penn National Race Course was euthanized after displaying signs similar to those of equine herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1). This would have barred horses stabled at Penn National from entering the stable areas of Laurel Park or Bowie Training Center, and would also ban horses leaving these facilities to race at Penn National from returning.
A blood test on the affected horse came back negative for EHV-1, causing the ban to be lifted the morning of March 9. A quarantine order was also lifted on the barn where the horse was stabled at Penn National.
