New South Wales (NSW) Department of Primary Industries Minister Ian Macdonald late Sunday (Aug. 26) reported that 47 horses in NSW are infected with equine influenza type A. News agencies in Australia have estimated that unofficially as of Sunday night, more than 150 horses have clinical signs of flu.


“The horses are located at Centennial Park, Parkes, Moonbi (near Tamworth), Broughton Vale (near Berry), Wilberforce, Cattai, and Wyong,” Macdonald said. “A total of 48 horses were tested in these areas, and 47 were found to have the disease.


“I would like to remind everyone that horses must  not be moved in New South Wales until further notice,” he emphasized
