TheHorse.com Reaches 100,000 Minutes of Service Milestone
- Topics: Article
TheHorse.com has announced that the horse health website has reached and exceeded its goal of its readers and fans completing 100,000 Minutes of Service. In honor of reaching 100,000 Facebook fans, TheHorse.com rallied its online community to perform more than 130,000 minutes of volunteer service for various equine-based organizations.
Readers volunteered with a variety of clubs and organizations and then logged their time on TheHorse.com. Volunteer locations included therapeutic riding centers, equine rescue and adoption farms, youth equestrian organization events, and more. The Horse staff also got involved by spending a day volunteering at the Kentucky Equine Humane Center, in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Photos from the group's day of service were posted to TheHorse.com's Facebook page.
“Our team has enjoyed watching the level on the ‘volunteered minutes thermometer’ climb since the campaign’s launch in late March,” said Stephanie L. Church, Editor-in-Chief of The Horse. “We already knew our readers were committed to providing excellent care for their own horses, but we can see now that they’re nurturing hundreds of equine charities and organizations as well.
“I’ve enjoyed seeing how eager horse people are to share their charity of choice; different types of organizations tug on different people’s hearts, and our industry is a better place because of it,” Church added. “I hope these men and women will continue to serve at these and other equine organizations going forward, and share their stories and photos with us
