The North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) is pleased to announce the receipt of a $25,000 grant from The Pfizer Foundation. The grant money will be used to bolster NARHA’s Regional Education Program.

Founded in 1969, NARHA is a membership organization that fosters safe, professional, ethical, and therapeutic equine activities through education, communication, standards, and research for people with and without disabilities. The association includes nearly 700 member centers and 6,000 individual members. Approximately 36,000 people benefit each year from the caring work of volunteers and staff members at NARHA centers.

In order to better serve members and clients, NARHA has divided territory in the United States and Canada into 11 different regions. Each region has its own governing committee that encourages and supports equine assisted activities in its local area. Thanks to the grant award, NARHA staff and volunteers can continue to design programs that will create a unified, collective effort and establish the NARHA Regional System as the backbone of the organization
