Auburn University will have a special “Celebration of Construction” ceremony on Feb. 14 to mark the beginning of a new Large Animal Teaching Hospital at the College of Veterinary Medicine. The event will be at 2 p.m., at the building site next to the college on Wire Road.”We are excited to get underway with actual construction,” said Timothy Boosinger, veterinary dean. “We’ve been working toward this day for a long time.”

AU President William V. Muse and state Sen. Lowell Barron, D-Fyffe, a member of the AU Board of Trustees, will speak at the ceremony. There will be a reception afterwards in Overton Auditorium.

The 120,000-square-foot, $32.9 million complex will be one of the largest single construction projects in the history of the college, says Boosinger.

The facility will include a modern hospital, equine and cattle barns, admissions office and other features such as a dual-track equine lameness arena
