Australian event horse Kirby Park Irish Jester, ridden by Megan Jones, was withdrawn from the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games due to a travel-related illness. The 17-year-old Australian-bred gelding developed a fever after arriving in quarantine in Los Angeles.

"It's a 36-hour flight from when the horses load onto the truck until they arrive in LA,” said senior Australian team veterinarian Dr. Denis Goulding. "We have suffered the consequences of travel and one of our best horses has to be withdrawn due to travel sickness. It's one of the problems that does occur when you fly that far."

Kirby Park Irish Jester is currently recovering in a Los Angeles equine hospital and will relocate to a farm nearby before returning to Australia with the team in October.
