The American Quarter Horse Youth Association’s (AQHYA) membership recently broke the 30,000 mark, a first since 1996, with 30,033 members. The Association saw an increase of 737 from this time last year. Since its inception in 1970, AQHYA has grown by more than 27,000 youths and is represented by the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia and South America.

“The increase in membership is a direct reflection of our efforts to reach out to every young person who loves horses,” said Christa Morris, Senior Manager of Youth Activities. “AQHYA’s programs and activities cater to every young horse person regardless if they are a
horse owner or not.”

AQHYA is the largest single-breed youth association in the world and provides educational programs for youth age 18 and under. In addition to showing American Quarter Horses, AQHYA members participate in leadership activities, monthly contests, trail rides and racing.

The 11-region Association also has 29 youth officers and directors that attend events across the country representing AQHYA. The United States and Canada are divided into 10 regions, and the 11th region represents international members
