Farnam Companies, Inc., announced in December that it is acquiring and licensing certain Kimberly-Clark technologies for the manufacture of cohesive protective bandages for animal health applications. Included in the acquisition are the domestic and international Flexus product trademarks. The cohesive, flexible bandages are used in veterinary applications, such as in surgical veterinary drapes, and as protective support wraps for equine athletes.
Farnam Companies will continue marketing Flexus internationally and will also continue to make Flexus inventory available for domestic distribution. For the domestic market, Farnam intends to further develop and improve upon the cohesive technologies and introduce the improved products to the US market in 1998.
“Our acquisition of these technologies represents our continued commitment to growth and improvements in the equine and veterinary markets,” maintains Andy Deer, Farnam’s chief operating officer and manager of the Companion Animal Products Division. “Flexus is an ideal product to incorporate into our existing product lines,” Deer continues. “We are confident that the improvements Farnam makes will enhance this products’ loyal customer following.”
