The horse genome project and the pros and cons of genetic tinkering within breeding will be the focus of a “Science Times” segment that will air Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 9:00 (EST). Science Times is a television series produced jointly by National Geographic and New York Times Television and is aired on the National Geographic television channel.


“Can science build a better racehorse? Genetic tinkering could change the face of horse racing forever, but some believe more traditional training methods should prevail,” states release from New York Times Television. “The Gamble takes an inside look at horse breeding and training and the quest for the speed gene in the U.S. and around the world.”

The program, which also be aired on Nov. 18 and Nov. 20, includes scenes from the 2001 Keeneland July Selected Yearling Sales and interview with Keeneland president Nick Nicholson and John Phillips, who owns Darby Dan Farm.
