Florida Gelding Tests Positive for WNV

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) officials have confirmed a 12-year-old Friesian gelding with West Nile virus (WNV). The horse first showed neurologic signs on Oct. 6 and is reported as recovering. The horse’s vaccination status was not reported.

This is Lake County’s first and Florida’s eighth confirmed equine case for 2019.
