Digital Recorders Can Monitor Equine Cough
Someday people may use a digital audio recorder to evaluate equine respiratory diseases, as well as the air quality of the stable environment.
Marco Duz, MedVet, MRCVS, and his colleagues recorded horses’ coughs over 24 hours, then analyzed the coughs by reviewing the digital recording on a computer, which took about 2-3 minutes for every hour of recording time.

EIA Quarantine Lifted in England
The quarantine for equine infectious anemia (EIA) in Wiltshire, England, has been lifted after three sets of tests showed horses free of the disease. The testing was required after two mares imported from Romania in December tested positive in January for EIA, also known as swamp fever.

UC Davis Center for Equine Health Receives $3 Million Endowment
The William and Inez Mabie Family Foundation has pledged $3 million to support the Center for Equine Health (CEH) to continue its operational, educational, and research efforts to benefit horses. The CEH is part of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis.
