Fremont County, Colorado, law enforcement authorities are hoping the public can help identify the owner of a seemingly maltreated horse abandoned near Florence.

A release from the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office said the gelding was discovered wandering in a pasture near Highway 115, north of Florence. The animal appeared to be malnourished and losing hair due to a fungal infection.

The animal has no brand markings, the release said.

Anyone with information about the horse or owner should call Sergeant Megan Richards at 719/276-5552 or, to remain anonymous, Fremont County Crimestoppers at 719/275-STOP (7867)
