Oregon law enforcement authorities are seeking whoever is responsible for tying a horse to a tree before fatally shooting the animal.

Crook County, Oregon, Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sergeant James C. Savage said deputies responded to a call from an Oregon Department of Transportation employee who found a horse carcass tied to a tree just off a road near Prineville on March 12.

“It was determined that the male horse had been tied to a tree and shot multiple times,” he said.

Savage said the Crook County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate
