Alabama authorities are investigating a shooting that left a Mobile County horse dead.

Sergeant Joe Mahoney, of the Mobile, Alabama, Sheriff’s Office, said deputies responded to a call from an owner that his horse had been shot on March 19. The owner told deputies that he’d found the animal lying in his pen. The horse had been shot in the right back side, Mahoney said.

Mahoney said the horse’s owner indicated that the discharge of firearms behind his home was an ongoing problem.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office at 251/574-8633
