A New York woman has been charged for stealing a horse from a Hebron, New York, farm.

New York State Police Major Steven James said troopers responded to a complaint from an owner reporting that her 15-year-old mare was missing from her barn on March 27. Troopers later discovered that Wendy J. Holcomb, of Granville, had been in touch with the mare’s previous owner to obtain ownership documentation for the animal.

When questioned by police, Holcomb admitted to stealing the horse along with some tack, James said. She turned herself in to police personnel and, on April 2, Holcomb was arrested and charged with two counts of petti larceny and one count of criminal trespass.
