The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is investigating the killing of 21 stray horses on public and state land northwest of Thermopolis, Wyoming.

The horses were found on the afternoon of July 29, and were killed at some point during the last two weeks of July. The horses were not federally protected wild horses but rather domestic horses that had been abandoned a few years ago.

The BLM is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person or people involved in the deaths of the horses.

Special agents from the BLM are working closely with the state of Wyoming, a local brand inspector, and the Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Department
