The phrase “one size fits all” doesn’t necessarily hold true when it comes to saddles and horses. But fortunately, saddles come in many different types, shapes, and sizes and can be tailored to fit a horse properly. So how do you deal with saddle fitting problems? We posed this question to our readers last week. More than 750 people responded, and we’ve tallied the results!

Of the 770 respondents, 303 (39%) said they bought new saddles, while 143 (19%) said they used correction or shim pads/saddle blankets. Another 94 respondents said they had their saddles reflocked or fleeced to better fit their horses. Some 83 individuals (11%) said they have adjustable saddle trees, so they adjusted it to better fit their horses. Only 25 respondents (3%) said they stopped riding their horses if they experienced saddle fit issues, while the remaining 122 (16%) respondents said they have not experienced saddle fit problems.
