Poll Recap: Is It Time for a New Helmet?
Christmas is just a few days away, and you’ve hinted to your family and friends all year long about how you could really use a new pair of boots for the show ring. Or maybe a new hunt coat, to replace the used one you inherited from your older sister. But what about your helmet? How long has it been around?
In last week’s online poll, we asked our readers when they would be most likely to replace their riding helmet. More than 900 people responded, and we’ve tallied the results!
Of the 926 poll respondents, 506 (55%) said they are most likely to replace their riding helmet after a fall. Another 152 individuals (16%) said they replace their helmets when they becomes dirty or unsanitary, and 50 respondents (5%) said they look for a new helmet on special occasions, such as Christmas, holidays, or a birthday. Only 17 respondents (2%) said they replace their riding helmets annually, and 16 people (2%) said they’d likely replace their helmets at the beginning of show season. Some 90 respondents (10%) said they are most likely to replace their helmet at other times, and 95 individuals (10%) said they do not wear a helmet.
