A Michigan youth is facing multiple arson and animal cruelty charges in connection with a barn fire that killed 10 horses.

Det. David Powell of the Burton, Mich. Police Department said that, on Feb. 20, a barn at the Midnite Sun Training Center became engulfed in fire. Ten horses located inside the barn at the time of the fire perished in the blaze.

On Feb. 22, Powell said that law enforcement personnel had arrested a juvenile. The youth was charged with two counts of felony arson and 10 counts of animal cruelty in connection with the incident, Powell said.

No one from the Midnite Sun Training Center was available for comment
