Equine veterinarian Michael D. Erskine, DVM, Dipl. ABVP, has been named interim director of Virginia Tech’s Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center. The center, located in Leesburg, Va., is a campus of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech.

Erskine will begin his new position today (May 20).

“Dr. Erskine has been a friend of the college and Equine Medical Center for many years,” said Gerhardt G. Schurig, DVM, MS, PhD, dean of the veterinary college. “He has always been ready to help with his advice and knowledge. He is once again stepping up to help lead the (equine medical center) until a new director is in place.”

A resident of Mount Airy, Md., Erskine will work on reorganizing, stabilizing, and enhancing the efficiency of activities at the center. “This is aimed at ensuring that we provide the best quality of service and client satisfaction,” noted Schurig
