Veterinarian’s Wife Dies in Riding Accident
Horsewoman Christine Brown, the wife of Hagyard Equine Medical Institute veterinarian Stuart Brown, DVM, died in a riding accident at her home near Versailles, Ky. on July 10. She was 43.
According to LEX18.com, Brown was alone on her property practicing jumps on her horse when the accident occurred.
"It appears the horse crashed into one of the hurdles and threw her off," Woodford County coroner Ronald Owens told LEX 18 and NBCNews.com. The coroner provided a later update that Brown had died of possible internal injuries.
According to the news stations, Brown’s husband, Stuart, came home hours later and found the horse wandering the field. "He knew something was wrong because the bridle was broke on it and he went looking for his wife and found her lying in the arena," said Owens
