Reward Offered in Michigan Horse Cruelty Case
- Topics: Article, International Horse Transport
Animal welfare advocates in Michigan are hoping the offer of a cash reward will lead to the arrest and conviction of whoever abandoned an emaciated horse on a road in Cheboygan County earlier this month.
A spokesman for the Cheboygan County Humane Society said that on May 2 an extremely malnourished horse was discovered lying on the side of the road after having been transported there. The animal was humanely euthanized due to its poor condition, the spokesperson said.
The Humane Society of the United States and the Michigan Horse Welfare Coalition are offering a cash reward of up to $2,750 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for the incident.
Anyone with information about the incident should call 911 or the Cheboygan County Humane Society at 231/238-8221
