The annual Rutgers University (RU) Young Horse Teaching and Research Program (YHTRP) benefit horse auction will take place May 1 at the school’s horse facility on College Farm Road on the G.H. Cook Campus in New Brunswick, N.J.

This year’s auction will feature five student-handled and trained Bureau of Land Management (BLM) mustangs (two- and three- year olds). More information on the horses available for purchase can be found on the YHTRP website.

The event is open and free to the public, but bidders must be registered ($15 in advance, $20 on the day). Bidder registration and preview of the sales horses will start at 11 a.m. EDT and the auction will start promptly at 1 p.m. There will be a public preview held at the facility on April 16 beginning at 5 p.m., and interested potential buyers are strongly encouraged to attend or arrange a private viewing in advance of the auction.

More information can be obtained by visiting their website or by contacting program leader Sarah L. Ralston, VMD, PhD, Dipl. ACVN, associate director of teaching at Rutgers’ Equine Science Center, at ralston@aesop.rutgers.edu or 732/932-9404
