All but one of the horses injured in a barn fire at 2010 World Equestrian Games (WEG) three-day eventer Boyd Martin’s facility have returned home and are doing well, according to a June 7 blog post from Martin. The fire, which occurred May 31, injured five horses and killed six more.

Martin’s WEG partner, the Australian Thoroughbred gelding Neville Bardos, was released from the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center yesterday, where he was being treated for smoke inhalation (and the associated tissue damage in the lungs) since the fire, and taken to Martin’s wife’s, Silva Martin, dressage training facility in Cochranville, Pa. Martin indicated that the horse will be "on stall rest and hand grazing for a few weeks," at which point he will be re-examined by veterinarians.

Only one horse injured in the fire remains at the New Bolton Center. Catch A Star, a Holsteiner mare, is still being treated for smoke inhalation and burns; however, Martin reported that her condition is continually improving.

The other horses released from the hospital (Otis Barbotiere, Ambassador’s Rose, and Minotaure du Passoir) are also being rehabilitated at Silva Martin’s facility
