Arkansas Man Charged in Dehydrated Horse Deaths

An Arkansas man is facing multiple animal cruelty charges for allegedly neglecting two horses discovered dead on his Searcy County property.
Searcy County Prosecutor Chris Carnahan said that on July 15, a mail carrier discovered the animals dead on the property near Saint Joe, Ark. A Sheriff’s Department investigation revealed the animals died of severe dehydration due to lack of water.
The horses’ owner, Roy Meadows, has been charged with two counts of felony animal cruelty in connection with the animals’ deaths. Meadows was unavailable for comment.
If convicted, Meadows could face penalties of up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Meadows is slated to appear in court on Aug. 22 to answer the charges, Carnahan said
