A New York man is facing multiple charges for allegedly stealing more than $30,000 from a horse show.

Saratoga Springs Police Lieutenant Gregory Veitch said that in mid-July a member of the St. Clement’s Finance Committee notified law enforcement authorities about suspected thefts connected to the St. Clement’s Saratoga Horse Show over the past several years. Proceeds from the annual horse show benefit St. Clement’s Regional Catholic School in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., according to the school’s website.

An investigation revealed that between April 2005 and May 2011, a total of $33,303.01 was stolen from the sale of tee shirts and souvenirs at the horse show, Veitch said. The alleged thefts were connected to falsified invoices submitted to St. Clement’s for payment, he said.

"Police allege that Charles D. Walling would order a quantity of tee shirts (to be) sold at the horse show, submit falsified invoices in an amount larger than the actual cost, then keep the difference," Veitch said
