On Oct. 4, the New Bolton Center will present "BoTox: Good for Your Wrinkles, Not Good for Your Horse." The lecture on botulism is part of the First Tuesdays Lecture Series at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine at the New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, Pa. The series offers the public open lectures on equine topics, at no charge, the first Tuesday of each month.

The Oct. 4 lecture will be a presented in New Bolton Center’s Alumni Hall by Ray Sweeney, VMD, Dipl. ACVIM, professor and chief of the Section of Medicine at New Bolton Center.

The presentation will include information on the cause, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of botulism in horses. Botulism, caused by one of the most potent toxins known to man, is a severe, often fatal neuromuscular disease of horses.

"It is costly to treat and simple to prevent," Sweeney said
