Crafty Prospector, sire of 92 stakes winners, died March 27 at Fred Seitz’ Brookdale Farm near Versailles, Ky. He was 31.
Crafty Prospector moved to Brookdale Farm in 1990, where he stood as the property of a syndicate after siring five crops at Happy Valley Farm near Ocala, Fla. Crafty Prospector was pensioned from stud duty in March 2007.
A son of Mr. Prospector out of Real Crafty Lady, by In Reality, Crafty Prospector won seven races, and placed second in the 1983 Gulfstream Park Handicap for earnings of $116,955. His progeny have earned over $94 million. His top runners include Japanese champion Agnes Digital, grade I winner Devious Course, millionaire Crafty Shaw, and additional graded stakes winners such as Crafty Friend, Miss Golden Circle, Crafty C.T., and Robyn Dancer.
Crafty Prospector will be buried at Brookdale Farm alongside Deputy Minister and Forest Wildcat
