A Deltona, Fla., man was unable to get a sick mule to its feet in a pasture and sought help from a construction worker. When they were unable to get the mule up using a Bobcat, the owner asked the construction worker to dig a hole. Then the stories got conflicting.

OrlandoSentinel.com reporter Rene Stutzman reported the owner was convicted more than a year after leaving the dying mule without water beside the “grave” dug by the construction worker back in September of 2007.

The article reported the construction worker said the mule owner asked him to bury the mule alive, but the owner said he was going to get a veterinarian to euthanize the mule. A neighbor called authorities, and Seminole County animal control workers euthanized the mule.
