Both houses of the Illinois legislature passed a new bill that will allow $80 million in funds currently in escrow from the state’s casinos to be divided between horse racing tracks in the state. This is according to a story on bnd.com.


According to the article, the funds have been held because of a lawsuit by the state’s casino industry. That lawsuit reached the Illinois Supreme Court, and in June that court ruled must share revenue with horse racing tracks.


There could be appeals to this law.


The article noted that Illinois is the only state that has horse racing and casinos and does not have proceeds from the casinos going to the racing industry
