According to an article by Brad Keller on the HeraldBanner.com, about 80 horses were seized and removed from a ranch south of Greenville, Texas, the last week of June for alleged mistreatment. A hearing to determine custody of the horses is scheduled for July 5 in the Hunt County Criminal Justice Center in Greenville.

Investigations into alleged abuse of the horses took place over about a two-week period by the Hunt County sheriff’s office. The sherriff’s department along with The Humane Society of North Texas removed horses on June 26. The Texas-based Habitat for Horses helped coordinate rescue efforts, and the horses are at a “secure, undisclosed location.”
