It was announced today (July 1) that two horses raised and trained at the Army Remount Training School and Depot in Saharanpur, India, were donated to the Central Institute of Mental Retardation to help mentally challended children. The Army is also donating full gear and saddles.


The 5-year-old male horses were bred and raised at the Remount and Veterinary Corps’ equine breeding stud farm at Hisar. A spokesperson for the Army said the horses were docile and perfect for the children. A special Army truck will transport the horses to the children.


Army quartermaster general Lt-General Sudhir Sharma is also president of the Equestrian Federation of India.
