A horse got trapped in three feet of silt covered by water in Darlington, County Durham, United Kingdom on Friday, and it took rescuers more than five hours to free the horse, according to an article on thisisthenortheast.co.uk by Graeme Hetherington.

Firefighters used an inflatable walkway to reach the horse, and a veterinarian was called in to ensure the horse’s health prior to firefighters using two four-wheel-drive vehicles to pull the horse out of the muck.

Firefighters received a call just after 6 p.m. on Friday, and the horse was freed after 11 p.m. that night. Reports were the horse was fine after its ordeal.
