According to a press release from The Horse Trust in Speen, Buckinghamshire, England, 17 more horses and ponies have been evacuated from an Amersham farm and taken to The Horse Trust. An initial 14 were rescued last weekend from the farm.
The condition of these animals is not as severe as that of the original group, but the horses “were removed for their own protection,” said the release.
“I have never seen anything like this in my whole life,” said Shirley Abbott, yard manager at The Horse Trust. “You don’t think things like this go on in this country, but they do.”
All the horses in the Trust’s care are receiving special nutrition and veterinary care to nurse them back to health, and operators report this is putting financial strain on the organization
