A horse was killed and its rider was seriously injured in an accident on a movie set west of Santa Fe, N.M.

A spokesman for the American Humane Association says producers were shooting a scene Monday in which riders came toward a camera mounted on a vehicle.

He says the last horse ran into the vehicle, tossing its rider to the ground.  The horse broke its leg and had to be destroyed.

A county firefighter says the rider suffered broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder and was taken to St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe
