Singer/actress Madonna received a purebred Welsh gelding for her 47th birthday from her husband, Guy Ritchie, according to an icwales.co.uk article by Steve Dube of the Western Mail on Nov. 25. The gray gelding, Ystrad Dewi Briton (barn name Tom), is one of several horses living on the 1,200-acre farm they own in Wiltshire.

The story stated that when first looking for a horse, Madonna jumped on a polo pony that unseated her and caused her to suffer a broken collar bone, hand, and three broken ribs. Dube’s article also noted that Madonna has since been taking riding lessons from British Olympic medalist William Fox-Pitt.
