Two-time world champion barrel racer Kelly Kaminski has decided to give home-raised champion Rockem Sockem Go–aka Rocky–the rest of the year off to recover from lingering injuries.
Rocky, 14, has been Kaminski’s competition horse for a decade, taking her to five consecutive Wrangler National Finals Rodeo appearances with second place results in 2002 and 2003 before winning the World Championship in 2004 and 2005. NFR competitors three times named Rocky “Horse With the Most Heart.”
“I’ve always felt blessed with Rocky,” Kaminski said. “There were times when I felt jealous of girls with two or three horses in their trailer to choose from, but Rocky was special. I’ve had other horses, but he’s the greatest one I’ve ever had. I’ve never won any pro money except on him.”
