The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), the international governing body for equestrian sport, announced Friday (June 1) that U.S. eventing rider Amy Tryon has requested a hearing regarding an incident of alleged abuse that occurred on April 28 at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event in Lexington. The hearing will be held on June 25 in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Le Samurai, a 12-year-old bay Holsteiner/Thoroughbred gelding piloted by Tryon, sustained a serious injury near the end of the cross country course. The horse was euthanatized a few days later when veterinarians deemed a successful treatment outcome was not possible.
The Horse will continue to follow this story as developments occur.
