Companion animal rescue, sheltering, and care operations are being conducted from four staging areas in Mississippi. The staging areas are located at the Mississippi State Fairground in Jackson, the Forest County Multipurpose Complex in Hattiesburg, the Jackson County Animal Shelter in Gautier, and the Human Society of Southern Mississippi complex in Gulfport.
FedEx has resumed delivery service in Hattiesburg, Miss. The address to send LARGE shipments of donations for animals is: Multi-Purpose Facility, 952 Sullivan Drive, Barn E, Hattiesburg, MS, 39401-2714; call 863/697-0410. This facility is just off Highway 49 on the south side of Hattiesburg. Current supply needs for animals in this area are: Fencing supplies, wire posts, watering troughs, cattle panels, insect spray for bugs and for killing mosquitoes, veterinary supplies (Tincture of Green Soap purchased via a veterinarian from Henry Schein company; antibacterial shampoo), hoses, adjustable nozzles, and anything else that is a BASIC need for horses to go back to their homes with their owners.
