Stolen Horse International reported today (April 18) that two Quarter Horses were stolen from Meeker, Colo. on Saturday, April 15. The horses were kept at a ranch on Highway 64, west of Meeker, and the theft was reported to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Department at 8 a.m. on April 16.
Yolo Chief, also known as “Red,” is a 14-year-old, 15-16-hand bay gelding with two brands–the number “2” on his left jaw and “YL”on his left hip. He weighed about 1,150 lbs at the time of the theft. He has been used for roping, cutting, reining, and as a working cow horse.
Comet is a 14-hand, 27-year-old palomino mare that weighed about 975 lbs. at the time of the theft. She has a star, stripe, and snip on her face and two white hind stockings. Her owner said the mare is very sentimental in value, as she was the last horse her father owned before he died.
