Alamo Pintado is the first veterinary facility to offer this high caliber MRI.

Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center has added Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to its facilities in Central California.  Utilizing a Siemens Magnetom Espree, it is the first installation of this magnet for use in a veterinary environment.  The magnet is a high-field (1.5 T), ultra-short bore (125 cm), wide gantry (70 cm) system utilizing the latest hardware, software and imaging protocols.  Adapted for use in horses, a dedicated, custom facility has been built to utilize the unique features of this magnet.  At 30,000 times the strength of the Earth’s magnetic field, this magnet provides the opportunity to visualize injuries that previously were impossible to accurately diagnose.  The unique properties of field strength, size and configuration of the magnet, allow the ability to image the limbs, head, and neck of full size horses and whole body of animals less than 500 pounds
