HEART unveiled its new state-of-the-art equine ambulance at the Devon Horse Show, which was held May 25-June 3 in Devon, Pa. The new ambulance will help HEART improve upon its strong tradition of providing rapid care and transport for sick and injured horses at major horse shows across the country.
“The new ambulance will help HEART deliver quicker and more effective care to any injured horses,” said Robin Sweeley, president of HEART Equine Ambulance. “The type of care provided in an emergency can mean the difference between life and death for a beloved horse, and we hope that the new trailer will bring owners and riders some peace of mind that HEART will provide the best care possible.”
The new ambulance features an expanded trailer with a more efficient layout and advanced equipment. The trailer is a 2006 4-Star Custom Built. Modifications include:
- A reinforced cross beam in trailer body to support horse in sling
- Four ring tie-downs in trailer body to attach rescue glide to horse
- Removable stall walls
- Camera system with infrared
- Custom storage area on wall for rescue glide
- Stainless steel sink with water supply and heater
- Generator with ability to run on provided power supply
- Outside and inside lighting
The ambulance also features a new look, with artwork designed by Thomas J Coon Design of Charlottesville, Va
