The National Hurricane Center in Miami, Fla. has issued a hurricane warning for the Gulf Coast of Florida from Longboat Key to the Ochlockonee River.
According to a 10 a.m. Hurricane Center bulletin, Tropical Storm Alberto was about 190 miles south-southwest of Apalachicola, Fla., and about 220 miles southwest of Cedar Key, Fla. The storm was moving toward the north-northeast near 7 mph, and this motion was expected to continue for the next 24 hours.
“A hurricane warning means that hurricane conditions are expected within the warning area within the next 24 hours,” said the bulletin. “Preparations to protect life and property should be rushed to completion.
“Alberto has the potential to become a hurricane within the next 24 hours,” it continued
