The Equestrian Land Conservation Resource (ELCR) is pleased to announce the appointment of John Strassburger to its Board of Directors.
“As ELCR continues to grow in influence nationally, it is important to attract people with strong equestrian and conservation backgrounds to help lead us into the future,” said Georgiana Hubbard McCabe, President of ELCR. “John’s years as editor of The Chronicle of the Horse has provided him with a wide network of contacts in all aspects of the horse world. His active involvement in the conservation arena only adds to his credentials. I am very pleased he has joined us.”
“For those of us in the horse world, it is vitally important to save enough land for riding. That’s where, parks, public equestrian centers, and private land protected by conservation easements–and our support of them–will become ever important,” states Strassburger. “I am looking forward to doing exactly this by working with ELCR.”
Strassburger joined the editorial staff of The Chronicle of the Horse in 1982, and was the editor from April 1986 to May 2006. He covered six Olympics and hundreds of other competitions around the country and the world in that time
