The Equine Industry Program at the University of Louisville has announced Robert G. “Bob” Lawrence will retire as director and chairman, effective Aug. 1.

Lawrence has led the program since its inception in 1987. During that time, the program has initiated an undergraduate program leading to a bachelor of science degree in business administration, conducted seminars and programs on different aspects of racing and breeding, and conducted industry economic studies.

“I’ve enjoyed the challenges and the opportunities immensely, but it’s time for a change, for me and the program,” Lawrence said. “I’m especially proud of our graduates’ accomplishments as they’ve moved up the ladder with organizations across the industry.”

College of Business Dean Charlie Moyer said a successor to Lawrence will be named prior to the fall semester and that Lawrence would remain until the new director is in place
