Three horses have been struck by cars near Rocky Mount, N.C. in recent days, according to the Rocky Mount Telegram.
One driver was injured early Monday morning, Aug. 14, when he hit a loose horse on N.C. 48 in Nash County. N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper Charles Alston told the paper the horse was “put to rest” by the Nash County Sheriff’s Office.
Two other horses were killed over the weekend in a four-vehicle accident that diverted traffic for 90 minutes while authorities cleaned up.
According to the article, the Highway Patrol was called about livestock on the road shortly before the accident. The Telegram reports that four vehicles were significantly damaged, but there were no serious injuries to the drivers
