The University of Maryland (UMD) Extension will host a day-long seminars on horse pasture management on April 12 at Bay Point Equestrian Center in Berlin, Md. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue until 3:00 p.m.

The tentative schedule is as follows:

  • 8:30 a.m.—Welcome and Introductions

  • 9:00 a.m.—Feeding Soils for Healthier Grass—Nicole Fiorellino, MS

  • 9:30 a.m.—Horse Pasture Management—Les Vough, MS, PhD

  • 10:15 a.m.—Break

  • 10:30 a.m.—Horse Pasture Management (cont.)

  • 10:45 a.m.—Strategic Grazing of Horses—Amy Burk, MS, PhD

  • 11:15 a.m.—It Happens: Manure and Nutrient Management—Jennifer Reynolds

  • 11:45 a.m.—Water Management to Reduce Soil Losses—Speaker TBA

  • 12:15 p.m.—Lunch

  • 1:00 p.m.—Farm Tour—Jessica Snyder

  • 2:00 p.m.—Hands-on Skill Work

The $35 per person registration fee covers all educational materials and lunch.
