Allegedly Maltreated Horses Removed from California Property

More than two dozen horses are receiving rehabilitative care after being removed from a San Diego County, California, property.
Dan DeSousa, deputy director of San Diego County Animal Services, animal control officers removed 31 allegedly maltreated horses—including yearlings, weanlings, and at least one pregnant mare—from a property in Valley Center, California, on Aug. 23.
“Six of the horses were stallions, and they were in with the mares,” DeSousa said.
All of the horses were allegedly in need of hoof care and allegedly malnourished, he said
