Handling and treating a 1,100 pound horse for illness and/or injury is no simple task. In last week’s poll, we asked our readers to identify their veterinarian’s strongest horse handling skill. More than 670 people responded and we’ve tallied the results!

Of the 675 respondents, 519 (77%) individuals said that their veterinarian’s strongest horse handling skill was being patient and calm. Another 86 respondents (13%) said their veterinarian’s best skill was maintaining human and/or horse safety, while 25 people (4%) chose restraint methods. Only 19 individuals (3%) said their veterinarian’s strongest skill was rewarding good behavior. The remaining 26 respondents (4%) indicated their veterinarian has “other” strong horse handling skills.
