Horse Nutrition Tweets from the Purina Horse VIP Event
- Topics: Article
Purina held one of its Professional Horse VIP Meetings in and around St. Louis, Missouri, Sept. 15-17. The select horse owners in attendance represented equestrian disciplines that included cutting, reining, roping, dressage, eventing, endurance, hunter-jumper, therapeutic horsemanship, entertainment, and horse racing (a variety of breeds), among others. These riders, trainers, and other professionals toured the Purina Animal Nutrition Center, in Gray Summit, watched research demonstrations, and learned about equine nutrition in lectures by two PhD nutritionists and a veterinarian who work on the farm: Katie Young, PhD; Karen Davison, PhD; and Kathy Williamson, DVM.
Our editor-in-chief was in attendance, and here are some of the basic take-home messages she picked up on equine nutrition during this visit. Photography was not permitted on the farm during the tours, but Purina sent a few photos so readers could take a look at some facilities.
